WEIGHT CLASSES

The NCBSC requires us to use boxing weight classes.  We are waiting for rule changes to allow us to use IKF standardized weight classes.  Until then, the following weight divisions were updated by the NC Boxing Commission on 01/01/2023 and are effective as of this date.

14B NCAC 10 .0601 WEIGH-INS-KICKBOXING

Kickboxing shall be classified by weight as shown in the following schedule.  A contest shall not be permitted if the difference in weight between contestants exceeds the difference shown in the following schedule:

Featherweight Over 125.1 pounds to 132 pounds No more than 6 pounds
Lightweight Over 132.1 pounds to 140 pounds No more than 7 pounds
Light Welterweight Over 140.1 pounds to 148 pounds No more than 7 pounds
Welterweight Over 148.1 pounds to 155 pounds No more than 7 pounds
Light Middleweight Over 155.1 pounds to 164 pounds No more than 8 pounds
Middleweight Over 164.1 pounds to 170 pounds No more than 9 pounds
Light Heavyweight Over 170.1 pounds to 180 pounds No more than 10 pounds
Heavyweight Over 180.1 pounds to 195 pounds No more than 12 pounds
Super Heavyweight Over 195.1 pounds No limit

(2) No contest shall be scheduled, and no contestants shall engage in a bout between the opposite sexes, or where the weight difference exceeds an allowance of 3.5 percent of the division weight without the approval of the commission representative.
